ServiceMaster Global Holdings Inc. has set eyes on the vacant 328,000-square-foot former Peabody Place Mall in Downtown Memphis to become the new headquarters for the corporation.
According to ServiceMaster, on Friday after a private meeting was held for employees at the Peabody Place, it was followed by a press conference where it was announced that 1,200 of their 2,200 Memphis employees will be relocated to the renovated Downtown location.
The plan for ServiceMaster, which is currently located at Ridgelake Boulevard, is to consolidate some of the company’s businesses (Terminix, American Home Shield and its Franchise Services Group) which include brands such as ServiceMaster Restore, ServiceMaster Clean, Merry Maids, Furniture Medic and AmeriSpec at the new Downtown location.
In addition to the move, ServiceMaster plans to create a new 20,000 square-foot technology and innovation center inside of the new headquarters which will also act as an incubator for local entrepreneurs and IT developers and provide rentable co-working space. ServiceMaster hopes to attract talent and investment to Memphis.
The headquarters could be open as early as April 2017, however it could be opened in mid-late 2017.
