Memphis Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minched
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp Blue Agave Nectar or can use molasses
  • 1 tbsp mustard prepared
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt can be substituted with Himalyian salt
  • 1/8 tsp red pepper ground red pepper or 1 tablespoon of hot sauce
  • 1/2 tsp liquid smoke optional

Instructions
 

  • Heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add in the onions and garlic and saute around 3 to 5 minutes until golden.
  • Stir in the remaining ingredients except for the liquid smoke and simmer for around 10 minutes.
  • Lastly, add in the liquid smoke, stir and let simmer for another 5 minutes.
  • *Optional - Puree to remove any solids if you want your BBQ sauce without bits of onion and garlic.
