Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies was founded by Maurice Hill, Morris Hill, and Charles McBride with the help of their wives Pamela Hill, Willie Mae Hill, and Deborah McBride. In 2001, Pamela and Maurice Hill assumed full control of the Cookie Bakery and so begins the journey of MAKEDA’S HOMEMADE BUTTER COOKIES.
Named after Makeda, the niece of Maurice and Pamela Hill, Makeda’s Cookies has been baking in Memphis for 15 years. Makeda lost her battle to leukemia in 1997 and it was a unanimous decision to name the family business after Makeda. Her presence lit up any room and they wanted that same glow to be present with Makeda’s Cookies. And it has been.
Makeda’s Butter bites can be found in Kroger, SuperLo Foods, Cash Saver and Montessi’s on Summer! Makeda’s goal is to be a household name just like oreos, and chips ahoy and they are well on their way.
