Memphis Mayor Declares May 12th B.B. King Day With #BealeStreetBluesBoy Tribute

Memphis Mayor A C Wharton has officially declared Tuesday, May 12, 2015 as “B.B. King Day” sparking a #BBKingDay trend over social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

The Mayor is encouraging the Memphis community and all B.B. King fans worldwide to show support to the 89 year-old blues legend who is reportedly recovering in his home in Las Vegas following news that he had been placed in hospice care earlier this month.

Get well cards and mementos can be dropped off or sent to Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library (see map and directions) starting on tomorrow #BBKingDay and through the week until Tuesday, May 18th.

Along with the B.B. King Day announcement, came also a new tribute hashtag for fans to share their get well wishes over social media sites via #BealeStreetBluesBoy.
